To say nothing of the music venues, markets and art studios Bethnal Green is renowned for.
Your host is a travel writer whose pen is soon bound for Cape Town and Botswana. His eye is pleasingly eccentric, and his is an expert hand for upcycling – having turned one antique dining table into the two that enhance the chic sitting room.
While the artwork in Claremont Court is assorted and the furniture a pastiche of many periods, the sleek white kitchen is distinctly contemporary, overlooked by the slick grey dining table. Head for the cosiness of the white cushioned sofa, or the balcony and the bricolage of Bethnal Green’s architecture.
The bathroom is modern in shades of cream, while the bedroom is by turns arty and airy. But when it comes time to flick off the light on your repurposed bedside tables, do take time to admire the Gilbert & Georges and the scenic window view.

This home doesn’t have air conditioning. Between June and September, we’ll place fans in each bedroom. Please let us know if you’d like fans outside the summer period.
The lead guest must be at least 25 years of age.
When you arrive we secure a £1,000 hold on your credit or debit card. The amount is held by your bank until we confirm that no damage was caused during your stay. We will release the hold within five days after your departure, but it can take your bank longer to process the request from the credit or debit card company. If you do damage anything it’s always best to let us know before you leave. And once you depart, if we find any damage, we’ll get in touch immediately.
