Down a quiet lane, you’ll find Dovehouse Street Studio, a home that’s more than keeping up with the in crowd. A studio space in which every object seems chosen to delight, if there’s anywhere that’ll show you a good time, it’s here.
Your hosts are a German couple, with homes all around Europe. They’ve lived an eclectic life, with many years spent on a boat – this, perhaps, accounts for the sense of order beneath Dovehouse Street Studio’s razzmatazz. He’s an architect, while she’s an interior designer, and they’ve brought all their skills to bear on creating their flamboyant London home.
Dovehouse Street Studio is at its best after dark, when the lights in the kitchen and around the fireplace glow blue, green and pink, their gleams reflected in the mirrored surfaces all around. Dovehouse Street Studio may not be huge, but it more than makes up for its petite proportions with its sense of fun, this is a home that you can truly enjoy. You’ve a large desk complete with a pony skin chair, a colourful sofa bed, and a beautiful traditional fireplace with a working gas fire.
The sleeping area is set a little apart from the rest of the studio, on a raised platform, and we must admit to a dreadful jealousy of the antlered bedside table. Next door, you’ve a modern bathroom with a power shower. But, before you turn in for the night, open the doors onto your courtyard garden, where you’ll find a water feature, a brightly tiled seating area worthy of Gaudi, and more of those gorgeously pretty lights.

The home can get a little warm during the summer months. The door to the garden can be opened but not the windows.
There is a large uncovered skylight above the sofabed.
There is no TV in this home. There is a projector linked up to some, mostly European, digital channels. It includes English language news channels but does not show standard UK channels. It is quite complicated to use, and due to the skylight above, is best used after dark. The audio can also be a little sporadic.
This home accommodates a maximum of two adults plus one child per booking. There is a sofabed that can be set up to sleep one child if required.
This home doesn’t have air conditioning. Between June and September, we’ll place fans in each bedroom. Please let us know if you’d like fans outside the summer period.
The lead guest must be at least 25 years of age.
When you arrive we secure a £1,000 hold on your credit or debit card. The amount is held by your bank until we confirm that no damage was caused during your stay. We will release the hold within five days after your departure, but it can take your bank longer to process the request from the credit or debit card company. If you do damage anything it’s always best to let us know before you leave. And once you depart, if we find any damage, we’ll get in touch immediately.
