Your house, with the look of a mews house, is located in the best part of Kensington – one of the most select residential areas of central London – and is superbly located for getting around central London from High Street Kensington station, just 4 minutes’ walk away. Your house is in easy walking distance of Kensington Palace and Gardens, Hyde Park and the Royal Albert Hall. London’s main sights – Buckingham Palace, Westminster, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, London’s theatres, the Tower of London and much more are easily accessed quickly and direct from High Street Kensington tube station – 4 minutes’ walk from your townhouse, making this a great base for touring central London. Some less well-known but fascinating sights are also close by – Holland Park is just at the bottom of the street. Not so well known, this lovely park is home to the Kyoto Garden as well as a playground for young and older children. In Summer months, Holland Park hosts open-air theatre and opera.
High Street Kensington is one of the premier shopping streets in central London. Different from the exclusivity of Knightsbridge, High Street Kensington is home to more affordable shops, similar to Oxford Street but within a more walkable distance. There is a very large Mark & Spencer and High Street Kensington also has a very large Whole Foods Supermarket. Just beyond the tube station is the junction with Kensington Church Street, where you can find a range of unique art, antique and other shops. Harrod’s – and much more exclusive shopping – in Knightsbridge is a pleasant bus ride past Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park to the junction with Knightsbridge. Notting Hill and the famous Portobello Market held on Saturdays are a 15 minute walk or a 1 stop tube ride from High Street Kensington. You can also take one of the several bus routes which pass up and down High Street Kensington.
Your townhouse is located in a relatively quiet street and all street facing windows – and most other windows – are double-glazed. Although there is some traffic during the day, there is very little during the night. The door of the house takes you into the entrance hall with the guest bathroom right ahead, the entrance to the garage (currently used for storage) to the left and the Third Bedroom to the right. This bedroom has a king size bed and a small ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower and wash-hand basin. The toilet is just outside. The stairs up to the 1st floor are straight ahead and bring you into the very large, open plan living area with lounge, dining area and kitchen. The townhouse was newly furnished throughout in late January 2018.
With two large windows and French windows to a Juliet balcony the living area is very bright and this is supplemented by extensive lighting during the evening and night. The Lounge has a large 4 seat sofa as well as a luxurious 2 seat sofa, 50-inch Smart TV with Freeview channels. There is Free WiFi through the property. The elegant dining table and chairs seat 6 very comfortably and are placed close to the open plan kitchen, which has a 5-ring gas hob, large oven, large fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle. A range of saucepans are provided along with all of the cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and glass you may need for your stay. There is a washing machine with separate dryer located in the garage.
The remaining 2 bedrooms are located up the staircase from the living room on the 2nd floor. The Master Bedroom has a very comfortable Queen size bed, built-in wardrobes and a comfortably size ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, wash-hand basin and toilet. Basic toiletries, such as hand soap, shampoo and shower gel are provided, as are toilet rolls, although please note that these are intended are intended to be ample to get started and not necessarily sufficient for your full stay.
The Second Bedroom, at the top of the stairs, has another comfortable Queen size bed, built-in wardrobes and a larger bathroom with bathtub and shower over as well as wash-hand basin and toilet.
The beds are provided with luxurious Egyptian Cotton Sheets and a quality floor mattress can be provided, on request, with sheets and blanket, for a 5th guest. High-quality towels are provided with a full set for each guest in your party. Housekeeping is included on a weekly basis but can be provided more frequently for a small supplement.
From Holland Park at the bottom of the street, to the shops very close by in High Street Kensington there is plenty to keep you and your family entertained. A short walk across High Street Kensington takes you into a series of fascinating, quite narrow streets with several pubs and unexpected restaurants and coffee shops to be found – away from the bustling shopping street these are usually calmer and feature quite unique menus. For supermarkets, the Mark’s Spencer in High Street Kensington has a good sized Food Hall and there is the extensive Whole Foods Supermarket just a little closer to Kensington Palace and Gardens.

Kensington is one of the more exclusive residential areas of central London and it’s really not hard to see why. From both sides of High Street Kensington, you walk into lovely side streets of very expensive houses. High Street Kensington is one of central London’s premier shopping streets and the more exclusive shopping on Knightsbridge is also in each reach by bus or tube.
If you enjoy museums, there are some of London’s best in the area – the Design Museum is a very short walk down High Street Kensington and it is just a short tube or bus ride to the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum.
London is famous for its parks and you have Holland Park at the bottom of the street and Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park (essentially one park) are in easy walking distance up High Street Kensington – a lovely, wide boulevard. Kensington Palace there is home to Prince William and Kate and to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
However, this part of Kensington was once just a village outside London and had taverns as it was still half a day’s ride from the city. It still retains something of the atmosphere from those earlier days in side streets and some lovely, very individual shops and restaurants. They can be a bit pricey but they are a unique experience.
High Street Kensington underground station is 4 minutes’ walk from your apartment and has the Circle and District Lines – so you can take the train here direct to almost all of central London’s main rail stations – Victoria for the Gatwick Express, Liverpool Street for the Stansted Express and King’s Cross/St. Pancras for trains to Luton as well as trains to Paris, Brussels and elsewhere.
