London is a food wonderland.  It is a city described as a melting pot of cultures. Inevitably this means London boasts delicious food from all over the world. From relocating to London, I see the city from the eyes of a local tourist so to speak.  I cannot mention all of London’s best eats but here are some highlights. Great Food Market: Borough Market – Southwark Central London Slightly obvious but oh my word, go to Borough Market near London Bridge.  There are other fantastic food markets like Brick Lane but Borough Market is a delight.  Borough Market offers local produce from sausages to paella – fresh food at its best. Great Fish and Chips: Poppies fish and chips – Camden North London & Spitalfields East London   Poppies of Spitalfields and Camden is a must for fish and chips! Owned by ‘Pat’ who has been serving fish and chips for over 50 years!  He certainly knows how to do it well! This quirky chip shop is has such welcoming style and they even have music some nights. A British classic! Great Posh Eat: Balthazar London – Covent Garden – West London   Balthazar London is a Parisian brassiere delight that offers a great brunch. There is lovely sophisticated décor and a relaxed attentive atmosphere. Great Cheap Eat: Heron Edgware Road – West London   London can be expensive to eat out but there are plenty of cheap eats too.  I am not going to suggest the average burger joint. Rather, Heron a hidden gem serving some of the most authentic Thai cuisine with some meal with drinks and service for two for £40. It is very highly rated. London’s No.1 Restaurant: Dairy – Clapham – South West London   Dairy is the top London eatery according to Timeout London.  A menu offers the finest British seasonal produce and keeps it interesting by changing the menu often so you can try something new each time.  They do a great midweek lunch offer of 4 courses for £25 per person! Micro Brewery: Meantime Brewery – South East London   London has a fantastic micro brewery scene and the visiting the Meantime Brewery is a fantastic day out.  The tour guides are so informative and are such good fun. Many pubs sell micro brewed beer so if you can’t make it to the brewery make sure to sample some of London’s varied local beers and ales. Great Curry: Aladin – Brick Lane, East London   Aladin has been opened since 1979 with the head chef for more than 25 years. Great value for money and you get a discount if you pre-book! It serves authentic Indian food with a feeling of total food satisfaction on leaving.  However many of the Indian restaurants on Brick Lane are great too. It really is a curry centre, so if you want a decent curry, visit Brick Lane!
