Everyone around the globe has found their travel plans thrown into limbo. However, rather than looking on now as a time to hold back, we’d argue that now is the perfect time to plan, book and get excited about a future trip. At London Serviced Apartments, we aren’t dismissing your concerns. However, we are offering reassurance.
Security over booking a trip to London during coronavirus
It’s true that you need to consider your travel plans a little more carefully. Not all travel companies are taking the same approach towards future bookings. For example, Airbnb states: “We are now offering Guests full refunds and Hosts no-charge cancellations for reservations booked on or before 14 March with a check-in date of 14 April or earlier. Please note that this policy will not cover any new bookings.” It would make sense to hold fire on booking under such conditions at the moment. However, we’ve taken a very different approach. At London Serviced Apartments, we are offering fully-refundable and flexible rates on bookings should you be unable to travel. This means that there’s one thing you can get excited about over the coming weeks: planning and booking your next trip to London.
To visit or not to visit, that is the question.
Many people have ideas of what their London trip may look like. They envisage the city of Shakespeare’s Globe, a trip on the London Eye, or mingling with the Stars at Madame Tussauds. Your London itinerary can be as unique as you are. Use the time on your hands over the next few months to take your pick from some of these favourite London destinations, and add them to your ideal itinerary:
1. Big Ben
If you want the true London experience, you must head to Westminster and peer up at Big Ben. Get your snaps; you should even be able to get a red bus in the background, and some wonderful photos of the London Eye.
2. Tower of London
Step back in history, hear the myths and horrors, and take the opportunity to marvel at the Crown Jewels, at the Tower of London.
3. Tower Bridge
Probably the most iconic bridge in London, Tower Bridge is now home to the Tower Bridge Experience. This is a chance to go up inside the bridge itself and walk over the glass floor, as well as find out about lots of fascinating London stories!
4. The British Museum
Step inside the British Museum to indulge a passion for history. Here you’ll get up close with Egyptian mummies, marble stone work from Ancient Greece and a whole lot more. Whether you’re interested in the Romans or the changing rights of the LGBT+ community through the years, you’ll find something here.
5. The Science Museum
Hugely different from the British Museum, is the also free and world-class Science Museum. Explore space or genetics, let your kids get hands on in the WonderLab, or learn all about the power of steam.
6. Buckingham Palace
The UK is infamous for its Royal Family. The best chance of finding out what the monarchy is all about is at the Queen’s London residence: Buckingham Palace. There are tours of the state rooms and you will feel immersed in British culture.
7. Harry Potter Studio Tour
You may be a Muggle, but if you’re a budding wizard, then you have to head to the Warner Bros Studio Tour. You can wander down Diagon Alley, fly a broomstick, and indulge in a mug of Butterbeer.
8. The View from the Shard
For incredible panoramas of the city, you should head to the tallest building in the capital, The Shard. You can spot all the other London landmarks from the air!
9. ZSL London Zoo
Take your chances with the lions, have fun with a pygmy hippo, and be brave as you encounter spiders and snakes. The whole family will have a fascinating and fun day at ZSL London Zoo.
10. SEA LIFE London
Close to the London Eye is SEA LIFE London. One of London’s favourite attractions, you can immerse yourself in an underwater world of wonder at this impressive aquarium. It’s also a great place for dodging the famous English wet weather. Once you’ve got an idea of the places you’d love to see on your trip to London, it’s time to consider accommodation. There will be an influx of tourists coming to London when everything has calmed down. However, do make sure you check the booking conditions of your accommodation, so that you are protected, in case anything goes wrong.
