The Challenge

When a company regularly brings employees to London for extended assignments, finding accommodation is about considerably more than simply locating an available apartment.

The company has its own requirements around dates, budget, location and administration. At the same time, the individual employee will be living in the apartment for several weeks or months, so their personal requirements also matter.

Our client, a global research and consulting company, approached London Serviced Apartments on a number of occasions to arrange accommodation for employees staying in London.

Although the requirements came from the same organisation, the individual briefs were different.

Some employees needed to be close to a particular office location. Others had preferences regarding the area in which they wanted to live, their commute, apartment type or the kind of neighbourhood they would prefer during an extended stay.

The challenge was therefore not simply “What apartments are available?”

It was “Which available apartment is the right one for this particular employee and this particular assignment?”

Understanding the Individual Behind the Booking

For longer corporate stays, we believe this distinction is important.

An apartment may meet the basic corporate criteria on paper but still not be the most appropriate place for an employee to live for two months.

Our team therefore considered both sides of each requirement:

The corporate brief

  • Dates and length of stay
  • Budget
  • Office location and commuting requirements
  • Apartment type
  • Availability

The traveller's requirements

  • Preferred London area
  • Practical commute
  • Apartment style and facilities
  • Local surroundings
  • Suitability for living rather than simply sleeping

This allowed us to narrow the market down to relevant options rather than expecting the client or employee to work through a large volume of unsuitable properties.

A Two-Month Stay in East London

One of the requirements was for an employee who needed a one-bedroom apartment in East London for approximately two months.

After reviewing the requirement, London Serviced Apartments proposed suitable options, checked availability and worked with the client through the selection process.

The resulting stay was arranged at Cove – Landmark Pinnacle, in London's Canary Wharf area.

Following the stay, the client contacted us with particularly positive feedback, describing the accommodation as exactly what they had been looking for and thanking the LSA team for the communication and support provided throughout the process.

For us, this was important because successful corporate accommodation is not simply about completing a reservation.

It is about whether the accommodation actually works for the person who has to live there.

When the First Choice Is No Longer Available

Another requirement demonstrated why having an experienced accommodation team involved can be particularly valuable.

An apartment initially being considered became unavailable.

For an employee preparing for an extended assignment, this could easily have meant returning to the beginning of the search.

Instead, our team went back into the market and looked at alternative apartments and locations that could still meet the requirement.

We discussed the relative suitability of the alternatives with the client rather than simply sending another list of properties.

Availability in the serviced apartment market can change quickly. When it does, our role is to help the client move from “the apartment we wanted is no longer available” to “what is the best alternative?”

Different Employees, Different Requirements

The relationship continued with further London accommodation requirements during 2026.

These included employees requiring extended stays in different parts of London, including the Canary Wharf area.

Each new enquiry was treated as an individual accommodation brief.

Rather than assuming that an apartment or location suitable for one employee would automatically suit the next, we considered the particular traveller's dates, work location, preferred area and accommodation requirements.

This enabled the company to return to one accommodation partner while still receiving recommendations tailored to each individual employee.

Working Alongside the Corporate Travel Team

This type of relationship illustrates two important parts of the way London Serviced Apartments works with corporate clients.

1. Requirement Definition and Curated Recommendations

We help translate the initial brief into a practical accommodation requirement and then identify a manageable selection of suitable apartments.

This can be particularly useful for extended stays, where the employee's experience of the location and apartment becomes increasingly important.

2. Ongoing Account Continuity

When an organisation returns with requirements for different employees, our team already has experience of working with that company.

Each traveller's accommodation can still be approached individually, but the corporate client does not necessarily have to begin the supplier relationship again each time.

How this reflects LSA's managed corporate service

This case demonstrates two core elements of our wider corporate accommodation approach:
requirement definition and curated recommendations, and
ongoing account continuity across repeat employee stays.

The Outcome

Across recurring requirements during 2025 and 2026, London Serviced Apartments supported the client with extended-stay accommodation for different employees travelling to London.

The relationship demonstrates the value of combining:

  • human consultation with apartment search;
  • corporate requirements with individual traveller preferences;
  • knowledge of different London locations;
  • alternative sourcing when availability changes;
  • support throughout the accommodation process; and
  • continuity across repeat corporate requirements.

Most importantly, the client returned to London Serviced Apartments with further employee accommodation requirements.

For us, repeat business is one of the clearest indications that the service has worked.

Why This Matters for Corporate Travel Teams

Online accommodation searches are very effective when a traveller already knows exactly where they want to stay and the right apartment is immediately available.

Extended corporate stays can be different.

An employee may be relocating temporarily to an unfamiliar city, staying for several months, working from a particular office and trying to decide between London locations they do not know particularly well.

In those circumstances, access to an experienced team can add another layer to the search.

We can discuss the requirement, investigate suitable options, speak directly with apartment operators where appropriate and help find alternatives when the obvious choice is unavailable.

The result is not simply an apartment booking.

It is accommodation selected around the person who will actually be living there.
